Juice- A Natural Cure for Bad Breath!

Thursday, April 22, 2010 by Mitch B
I think we can all agree that one of the worst social situations to find yourself is realizing that you, yourself, or someone you're talking to is having a case of bad breath...

While mints and gum are obviously the go-to response for many people, they provide minimal-to-no nutritional value.  Wouldn't it be convenient to conclude your lunch with a nutrient-rich drink that would also work to rid any chances of bad breath? Great news! There is a solution!

According to NaturalCures.com, juice can actually work very well in getting rid of bad breath!

The entry explains- The following fresh juice combinations can help alleviate bad breath symptoms and also help GI disturbances that may be a contributing factor: Carrot and celery with parsley, spinach, watercress, alfalfa, comfrey, or beet tops; wheat grass juice; green juice; and carrot, spinach, and cucumber.

It amazes me how the list of carrot juice benefits and celery juice benefits continue to grow and grow!  Also, the benefits of including beets and their juice in your diet seems like the smartest health decision you can make!

Check out these, and all of our other juices, on our website today!

Attention Nursing Mothers! Turn to Carrot Juice!

Tuesday, April 6, 2010 by Mitch B
Pregnant and nursing mothers are usually constantly given advice on all the ways to make sure that their body is in top shape for both themselves, as well as the baby.  It turns out that Carrot Juice can be added to that list!

According to Home Remedies for You, "Nursing mothers are well advised, for the sake of the quality of their milk, to take carrot juice throughout lactation."  They also provide advise to pregnant women, "When the baby is on its way it is good sense not only to drink the juice but also to nibble a carrot when you feel hungry."

Organic Carrot Juice is filled with health benefits for your body, and this is just another major bonus!  Don't forget that carrot juice also is packed full of essential vitamins and minerals that we all need to be taking in every day!

Just like all of our heart healthy juice here at Biotta, our carrot juice is completely, 100% organic and natural with no added sugars or additional flavoring!

The American Heart Association: Heart-Smart Shopping

Sunday, April 4, 2010 by Mitch B
The American Heart Association, which is dedicated to educating the public about ways to make changes that will benefit their hearts and bodies, does a great job of providing valuable information on their website that can help anyone looking to make a change.  I recently found a "shopping guide" that helps consumers shop smart and buy heart healthy foods.

One of the more emphasized areas, the fruits and vegetables, struck me as very interesting:
  • Be sure to buy and eat plenty of fresh or frozen fruits and vegetables.  Fruits and vegetables that are deeply colored throughout – such as spinach, carrots, peaches andshopping berries – tend to be higher in vitamins and minerals than others, such as potatoes and corn.
  • When fresh foods aren't available, choose frozen or canned vegetables and fruits in water without added sugars, saturated and trans fat, or salt
  • Buy more fruits and vegetables that are good sources of fiber, including beans, peas, oranges, bananas, strawberries and apples.
  • Stock up on raw vegetables for snacks such as carrot and celery sticks, broccoli, cherry tomatoes and cauliflower.
  • For desserts, buy fresh or canned fruits (in water without added sugars), dried fruit (without added sugars), and gelatin that contains fruit, instead of baked goods and sweets.
As a Biotta enthusiast, I loved reading about the need for people to stock up on organic vegetable juice and fruit juice!  Every one of these bits of advice lead you straight to the fresh juices Biotta is dedicated to providing.

We've always known that we provide heart healthy juice that has no added sugar or caffeine, but it's great to have the AHA reminding everyone about the importance of a healthy diet!

If you're convinced and are looking to buy a bottle today, just click on the button below to see a listing of a few of our many retailers!

A Very... Interesting Story about Potato Juice...

Wednesday, March 31, 2010 by Mitch B
A woman recently wrote into a "Healthy Living" website with a very interesting story.  She had been suffering for years with digestive problems.  Just about anything she eats or any strenuous activity seems to cause a great deal of pain.  And then one day she went to see a Palm Reader in Key West and the man had some very insightful advice:  "He told me to drink the juice of 1 raw potato, 1 raw carrot, and a handful of grapes, every morning for a month."

She said that she was skeptical but did some research and found the following information on potato juice:

Raw Potato Juice Has the Following Medicinal Virtues:

  • It is one of the most alkaline foods
  • It dissolves away uric acid and lime
  • It helps prevent the fermentative process in the intestines
  • It helps the growth of friendly bacteria in the digestive tract

Raw potato juice has been used to benefit scurvy, rheumatism, digestive system disorders, skin blemishes, swelling, and I even found an article about the benefits of drinking raw potato juice to help cure cancer!

She ended up trying the diet for a while and had this to say:

It’s been a few weeks now… I feel stronger, more energized, and it’s getting easier for me to push my abs to do more without strain.  My food and diet choices are changing too.  Don’t know who’s out there reading this that’s looking for something interesting to consider for improved digestion, but you might look into the benefits of potato juice and see if it’s appropriate for you!

So what are you waiting for! Check out our website today and see how you can get your hands on a bottle of Biotta's Organic Potato Juice!  (Trust me, I'm no palm reader, but I bet that's what your palm says to do!)

100% Juice!

Sunday, March 28, 2010 by Mitch B
Ever wondered what exactly it means when a juice advertises itself as being "100% Juice?"  If you're interested in Biotta's juices, this would be a piece of information you would probably like to know!

Nearly every one of our juices are 100% Juice.  This means that there is nothing else added in.  No additives, preservatives, or anything else that may lead it to being "from concentrate."  Mixed juices can only be 100% Juice if all included fruits or vegetables are 100% pure.

Here is the breakdown of Biotta's Juices:

100% Juice
Beet
Carrot
Vegetable Juice Cocktail (in this case, the 'cocktail' denotes a blend of vegetable juices)
Bruess® Vegetable Juice
Celery
Sauerkraut
Potato

Fruit juices are typically too tart or strong to consume at 100% juice.  Therefore, we blend our organic fruit juices with other juices as well as tea extracts to make them more palatable.

74% Juice
Breakfast Blend

70% Juice
Elderberry

We take pride in the natural, healthy, organic qualities of our juices, which is why we produce the purest juice we can!  For a full nutritional breakdown of any of our juices, just check out the products page and take a look!

Note:  Biotta juices are not intended to diagnose, cure or prevent any disease.  We are not medical professionals and are not in a position to provide any medical advice.  We recommend you contact your physician for a dietary regimen specific to your needs.

Climb the Veggie Pyramid!

Wednesday, March 24, 2010 by Mitch B
Just a few years ago, the classic food pyramid was replaced by a newly designed pyramid that made it easier for people to follow the recommendations and be smart when choosing what they are eating and drinking.
Vegetables

After looking over the full list of vegetables, its great to see that ALL FIVE of Biotta's Organic Vegetable Juices are included on the list of recommended vegetables.  Whether you want to have a glass of carrot juice with breakfast or some celery juice before a workout, you will get all of the vegetable benefits through our juices.

The question most people have is, "How many servings should I have every day?"

Although it varies with age and gender, the recommended servings per day is 2.5-3 cups.  (For a breakdown of what a "cup" is and a weekly plan, click here)

Why wait any longer? Order some Biotta Juice today and start climbing the pyramid!

Why Juice?

Sunday, March 21, 2010 by Mitch B
Some people may wonder, "Why drink juice? Why not just eat the fruits and vegetables that I normally would be eating?"  Although there is nothing wrong with eating your mashed potatoes or steamed carrots, there are juicing benefits!

According to Rasham Nassar in her article 'Juice Appeal lets you eat your vegetables with a straw,' we have lost a great deal of nutrients in our food thanks to a poor diet and lack of exercise. "When we blend our fruits and vegetables," Nassar says, "we are in a sense bypassing the processing of digestion, going straight from sippy cup to bloodstream, therefore eliminating the risk of a possible loss of valuable vitamins and minerals in our diets."
Rasham makes some very good points.  Drinking organic vegetable juice ensures that we are getting every bit of the nutritional benefits packed inside.  There is no room for vitamins or minerals to get lost in the process.

Biotta's vegetable juice line contains the following juices- Beet, Carrot, Celery, Potato, Sauerkraut, and our Vegetable Juice Cocktail.  To find more information on these juices, check out our vegetable products page on our website!

Carrot Juice a "Goldmine of natural vitamins and nutrients..."

Monday, March 15, 2010 by Mitch B
"Carrots should be considered a goldmine of natural vitamins and nutrients..."

"Among other raw vegetable juices, carrot juice is an absolute leader in the context of the variety of its therapeutic effects, the contents of useful elements and its compatibility with other juices or foods..."

"No other vegetable contains as much beta carotene as carrots..."

Here are just a few of the statements I found on GuideToHerbalRemedies.com while researchingRaw Carrots how carrot juice benefits the body.  Pretty bold claims, huh?  Well, I suppose you are allowed to make such bold claims when they are 100% true...  Carrot juice truly is one of the healthiest things for the body.

We have probably all heard that carrot juice is packed full of beta carotene, and the major connection between beta carotene and vision.  However, vision is not the only thing benefited by carrot juice.  Drinking carrot juice also helps to relieve stress and aid in the digestion process!

Why Did We Choose To Go Organic?

Sunday, March 14, 2010 by Mitch B
Many people may be asking why the popularity of organic foods has risen so much recently.  Also, you may wonder why Biotta made the decision to produce only organic vegetable juice and fruit juices.  To put it simply, organic foods and drinks are 100%... organic.  In the growth, harvesting, and processing phase, things like pesticides, artificial flavors and preservatives are never used.

What does this mean for the body?  According to Weightlossandtraining.com, "So is organic food better for you? Well if you consider that decreasing your toxin burden and increasing your intake of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants can have a significant impact on health, then it certainly is."

Going organic was never a "joining the fad" decision for Biotta.  We've been doing it since the beginning - we're a pioneer in organic farming and production.  Our  mission is to promote good health and vitality.  Being organic supports that mission.  If you are looking for more information on our products, check out our organic carrot juice, beet juice, elderberry juice, or any of our other juices today!

Bugs Bunny had it all figured out...

Thursday, March 11, 2010 by Mitch B
I have a feeling that Bugs Bunny would have been the perfect spokesperson for Biotta Juice's Carrot Juice.  I can picture the commercial now...

First, he would pop out of the hole and tell us about the important connection between beta carotene and vision.  Biotta's carrot juice is packed full of Vitamin A and Beta Carotene which is essential to improve and maintain healthy vision.

Second, he would remind us that it is a completely organic juice with no added sugars, coloring or flavors.  In fact, the juice is 100% vegetable juice and free of preservatives and caffeine.

Finally, he would trick Elmer Fudd into falling for his own trap... What a Silly Wabbit...

Since that commercial hasn't been created yet, I suppose you'll have to settle for our website, which has more information on our carrot juice, as well as all of our other juices available!

Too many options? BLEND them all together!

Tuesday, March 9, 2010 by Mitch B
The only problem you could face going through our product list is trying to decide just which one of our heart healthy juice you would like to incorporate into your diet... For those of you who might struggle with this, why not start off with a delicious vegetable juice cocktail from Biotta?

What's in our vegetable juice cocktail?
  • Tomatoes- Tomatoes include lycopene and according to Livestrong.com, "Lycopene gives the tomato its red color and has been found to have antioxidant and cancer-preventing properties."
  • Carrots- "The high traces of beta carotene boost the anti-oxidant properties of carrot juice. It is the beta carotene that converts into vitamin A inside the body. The vitamin A fights to eliminate the free radicals in the body and hence fights cancer." (Home Remedies for You)

  • Beets- Just check out this previous Biotta blog post on the benefits of drinking beet juice, including its heart healthy and cancer fighting qualities.

A Very Informative Press Release

Saturday, March 6, 2010 by Mitch B
I stumbled upon this press release today put out by PR Log... It is titled: "Beat Heart Attack & Hypertension with Miracle Juice"  The book Miracle Juicing breaks down many of the major benefits of drinking fruit and vegetable juice.

Here is a small sampling of the juicing benefits they listed in the press release:
  • Juices are loaded with vitamins, minerals, and phytonutrients that are easily assimilated within fifteen minutes of drinking. The juice is quickly distributed throughout the body to build, heal, repair and restore optimum health.
  • Juices cleanse the blood, which is the body’s lifeline. Clean blood loaded with nutrients will ensure a healthy long life.
  • Juicing helps to pre-digest food so that it can be easily absorbed by the body.
  • Juicing removes indigestible fiber. If a carrot is eaten, one may only get 1% of the beta-carotene, but if it's juiced, 100% of the important beta-carotene will be assimilated.
  • Vegetable and fruit juicing helps to reduce cholesterol, dissolves clogged arteries, reduces the risk of heart attack, reduces high blood pressure, dissolves kidney stones, cleanses the liver, prevents cancers, increases energy and other health benefits
These benefits exist in all of Biotta's convenient, organic vegetable and fruit juices.  All of our heart healthy juices are 100% juice with no added flavors or colors!  Click here for a full list of Biotta products!

Are you Drinking Empty Calories?

Friday, February 19, 2010 by Sara Cox
When we think of calories, we think of them coming from the foods we eat.  When you have a medium cafe latte with whole milk with breakfast, then a 20 oz. regular soda ad lunch, and a 16 oz. sweetened iced tea with lemon mid-day, and glass of wine at dinner, that doesn't sound unreasonable, does it?  After all, they are liquid!

Those 4 beverages amont to 800 calories - or 40% of an average 2,000 calorie daily diet.  And although they keep you hydrated throughout the day, these 800 calories are EMPTY calories.

Sodas, coffee, tea...there is no nutritional benefit to any of these beverages, yet they seem to pack on the calories.  Drinking a 100% organic pure juice, like Biotta Juice, however, will provide you with the same calories, but with the added benefit of vitamins, minerals and other health benefits, like blood pressure lowering properties of our Beet Juice, and soothing an upset stomach like our Potato Juice.

Juice drinks and waters are often enhanced with vitamins and herbs.  Although at first glance they seem like a healthy alternative to soda, but how much sugar and artificial flavoring doe they contain?

Biotta Juices are 100% pure - not from concentrate and never diluted.  They are packed full of all natural nutrients, and come in 2 sizes of convenient, recyclable glass bottles.

Does Sauerkraut help Canker Sores?

Thursday, February 18, 2010 by Sara Cox
An excerpt from 'The People's Pharmacy' by Joe and Teresa Graedon

Q:
My favorite home remedy is sauerkraut for canker sores.  If I feel one coming on, I put a wad of chopped sauerkraut on the area, hold it there for a minute, then chew it and swallow.  I do this three or four times a day for 2-3 days.  At least 95% of the time, the sore disappears.  For me, that is a miracle, since I have been plagued for many years.

A:  Canker sores (aphthous ulcers) are mysterious.  Trauma to the mouth from sharp food can trigger a sore.  So can immune suppression (chemotherapy) or a deficiency of folic acid, vitamin B-12 and iron.

Long ago, we heard about a 1930's canker-sore remedy.  A dentist recommended swishing sauerkraut juice serveral times a day, swallowing about a tablespoon.  Perhaps the bacteria that ferment cabbage into sauerkraut provide helpful nutrients.

As a sufferer of canker sores, myself, I can relate to this as a miracle!  Many things seem to cause mine - improper eating, lack of sleep and exercise, and of course, those times when the toothbrush slips right into your cheek.  And I thought Sauerkraut Juice was just good for digestion -- watch out canker sores!

Get Healthy as a Family

Wednesday, February 17, 2010 by Sara Cox

Have fruits and vegetables become a thing of the past?

One of today’s fastest growing problems is childhood obesity.  Why are so many kids packing on pounds? For the same reasons adults are: too many calories and too little exercise. "Adults are passing on their unhealthy habits to the next generation," says Colleen Thompson, a dietitian and coauthor of Overcoming Childhood Obesity (Bull, 2003). "Childhood obesity is really a family issue. To fix things, the whole family has to change."  A recent study of 3,000 kids ages 4 to 24 months found that many of the negative eating patterns plaguing adults are affecting children as early as infancy. Not only was fruit and vegetable consumption low, but french fries were the most popular choice of toddlers. Moreover, 40 percent of 7-month-olds and 60 percent of 1-year-olds had candy or dessert at least once a day.

Adopt a Healthier Lifestyle

Some basic things you can do to adopt a healthy lifestyle - for both you and your kids:
1.  Exercise.  Let your kids see you exercise.  Exercise with your kids.
2.  Eat dinner as a family.  Not only can you enjoy some quality time, but eating together helps you know what your kids are actually eating.
3.  Control portions - both for you and your kids.  Just becuase you are the parent, doesn't mean you need to eat 2-3 times as much as the kids.  Don't go back for seconds.  Kids see that and think that is what they are supposed to do.
4.  Model healthy behaviors.  You can't expect your kids to do things that you wouldn't do yourself.  Turn off the tv - eat your fruits and vegetables!
5.  Include healthy snacks and drinks - like Biotta 100% pure organic fruit and vegetable juices.  This is a great way to increase energy, enjoy a wholesome snack, and get your daily requirements of fruits and vegetables!
