Carrot Juice Benefits Vision

Monday, July 26, 2010 by Mitch B
When people think of ways to improve their vision, carrot juice seems to be a popular response.  This is for good reason!  Carrot juice is packed full of Vitamin A, one of the strongest vitamins in vision health.

According to DietHealthClub.com, "Some of the first signs of Vitamin A deficiency include difficulty to adjust the sight in dim light from bright light; for example when you enter in a dark theater or a dark room from bright lighted room. Carrot juice can effectively help strengthen the eye sight and prevent further deficiency."
However, most sources do stress that carrot juice is not a quick fix for vision.  It is most helpful in strengthening eye sight over the long run.  This is why it is important to stock up on this pure organic juice now so that you will be able to reap the benefits later in life!

What are you waiting for?  Head over to Biotta Juice's website today and see where you can order a bottle!

Fresh and Crisp.

Friday, July 16, 2010 by Natalie Hadley
Fresh and crisp are the words that seem to always come to mind when I'm enjoying a nice cool glass of Biotta's Juice on a hot day.  It really does amaze me how the juice can stay so fresh tasting after a lengthy shelf time.  Because I like to buy my pure organic juice in bulk, sometimes it can be a little while before I get to the last bottle in the case, but that has no impact on the fresh taste I get!

I always get a very crisp feel when I have a glass, as well... almost like the feeling you get biting into a fresh tomato or celery stalk.  It just makes the juice taste all the more better when I feel the crispness in every taste!

And no one would deny that the best part of a bottle of Biotta is the health benefits that go along with them.  It's amazing that a bottle of Beet Juice truly is one of the healthiest thing you can put in your body!  I'm so glad I discovered Biotta!

Enjoy the Juice!

SO Many Celery Juice Benefits!

Friday, July 9, 2010 by Mitch B
Recently, I was reading an article about celery juice on the website eHow.com... I found a great list of benefits of drinking celery juice and wanted to share some of them with you.
  • Celery keeps body temperature regulated, helping you cool down in hot weather.
  • It can also be used as a fever reducer.
  • Fiber in celery works as a natural mild laxative that keeps your system running well without the stress of over-the-counter laxatives.
  • It also rehydrates the body in dry weather and after a workout.
  • Celery can also curb the appetite and reduce cravings for sugar, making it a healthful alternative to diet pills when added to your diet.
This is just a small sampling in a huge list of the benefits of including celery in your diet.  Remember, all of our juices are 100% organic and contain no added sugar, caffeine, flavors, or coloring!  Here at Biotta, we are dedicated to providing pure juice to our consumers!

Keeping Our Juice PURE!

Friday, June 25, 2010 by Mitch B
One of the words we often use to describe our juices here at Biotta would be PURE.  What do we mean by that?  It's pretty simple...

Every one of our juices is 100% organic, meaning that at no time during the cultivation process do the fruits or vegetables come in contact with chemicals or pesticides.  We grow them organically, and safely in order to keep them as pure and healthy for you as possible, which makes the best organic juice possible!

Also, nearly none of our juices have any added sugar (elderberry juice has some added sugar to take away the sour taste).  Also, our juices have no added caffeine, artificial flavoring or artificial colors.

We don't want to create an artificial beverage with an artificial flavor and no health benefits.  Our fresh juices are some of the healthiest beverages you can put in your body!

The ONLY real beet juice!? So cool...

Tuesday, June 22, 2010 by Natalie Hadley
I wanted to read a little bit on what other companies say about their beet juice today, so I decided to look up beet juice on Google.. and I was shocked to see that Biotta is the only company that carries true, beet juice! All other companies just sell a powder to mix with water (check out the screenshot below)...

Think of all the nutrients that would be lost in that process.  If you have the pure organic juice, you get everything that nature intended you to get in the actual vegetable.  Once it is crushed down into a powder, you lose nearly everything!  Especially the fiber that can only be found through the actual beet.

Anyways, I just thought that was very impressive and wanted to share that with all of you!  Hope you're having a great day filled with the best organic juice around- Biotta!

Enjoy the Juice!

Juice fits perfectly into a busy schedule

Friday, June 18, 2010 by Natalie Hadley
I don't think there is a person in the world who would argue with this one, simple fact- Life is exhausting.  Whether your full time job is at home, or at an office, all the chaos seems to never slow down.

One of the major side effects that a busy schedule has made in my life is a much lower emphasis on what I'm putting into my body.  Mornings have always been so hectic that I just go straight for the coffee maker, get my coffee (maybe have time to toast a Pop Tart) before I can finish the morning routine and get out the door to work

I've recently decided to make a change to the way I handle mornings.  That is why I started looking into Biotta Juice's Breakfast Blend.  I realized that it packs plenty of natural energy to get my day started, without loaded me up with empty calories like a cup of coffee.

Including of some Biotta's other fresh juices throughout the day has also helped me get in some nutrients while snacking.

So, if you're finding your mornings to be just a little too busy for a big, balanced breakfast, I'd say start with something simple like a glass of pure organic juice and see the difference it makes!

Enjoy the Juice!

Thanks for the "Shout Out" SheKnows.com!

Thursday, April 29, 2010 by Mitch B
In an article on SheKnows.com regarding the "Top 10 Ways to Boost Your Immune System", we were thrilled to see that we made it on the list!  The article highlighted three of Biotta's delicious juices, including beet juice, elderberry juice, and our vegetable juice cocktail!

Here is an excerpt:

Made with 100 percent pure organic fruits and vegetables, Biotta’s three immune system boosting juices -- Elderberry, Beet and Vegetable Juice Cocktail -- are bursting with intense flavor and the highest value of nutrients. The Biotta Elderberry Juice is rich in minerals, aids in relieving inflamed and blocked respiratory passages, helps regenerate the cilia in the respiratory passages, and assists in relieving cold and flu symptoms. Biotta’s Beet Juice offers high levels of anti-carcinogens, carotenoids, folic acid, and betacyanin, a phytonutrient that strengthens the body’s own defenses and helps maintain cell function and immune system function. The Vegetable Cocktail Juice is ripe with organically-derived immunity-upping nutrients from carrots, beets, celeriac, and tomatoes. Biotta has a total of 11 organic juices, all of which are considered functional juices in that each targets a specific health issue. One 8-ounce serving a day is a delicious way to keep the colds and flu away.

100% Juice!

Sunday, March 28, 2010 by Mitch B
Ever wondered what exactly it means when a juice advertises itself as being "100% Juice?"  If you're interested in Biotta's juices, this would be a piece of information you would probably like to know!

Nearly every one of our juices are 100% Juice.  This means that there is nothing else added in.  No additives, preservatives, or anything else that may lead it to being "from concentrate."  Mixed juices can only be 100% Juice if all included fruits or vegetables are 100% pure.

Here is the breakdown of Biotta's Juices:

100% Juice
Beet
Carrot
Vegetable Juice Cocktail (in this case, the 'cocktail' denotes a blend of vegetable juices)
Bruess® Vegetable Juice
Celery
Sauerkraut
Potato

Fruit juices are typically too tart or strong to consume at 100% juice.  Therefore, we blend our organic fruit juices with other juices as well as tea extracts to make them more palatable.

74% Juice
Breakfast Blend

70% Juice
Elderberry

We take pride in the natural, healthy, organic qualities of our juices, which is why we produce the purest juice we can!  For a full nutritional breakdown of any of our juices, just check out the products page and take a look!

WYSIWYG - What you see is what you get!

Wednesday, March 3, 2010 by Mitch B
At first glance, it may not seem like there would be much of a connection between celery and your kidneys, but surprisingly, that is not the case!  It turns out that the nutrients found in Biotta Juice's Celery Juice help to stimulate kidney function!  Our fresh celery juice helps to neutralize the pH balance in the body, which helps to rid the body of toxins!

You may have seen other organic vegetable juices that claims to keep the body healthy, but Biotta is in a league of their own.  Biotta's juices are caffeine free and sugar free, with no added flavors or colors.  What you see is what you get!  A blend of vegetables and fruits that is pure and healthy.  No hidden ingredients, no gimmicks.

Are you Drinking Empty Calories?

Friday, February 19, 2010 by Sara Cox
When we think of calories, we think of them coming from the foods we eat.  When you have a medium cafe latte with whole milk with breakfast, then a 20 oz. regular soda ad lunch, and a 16 oz. sweetened iced tea with lemon mid-day, and glass of wine at dinner, that doesn't sound unreasonable, does it?  After all, they are liquid!

Those 4 beverages amont to 800 calories - or 40% of an average 2,000 calorie daily diet.  And although they keep you hydrated throughout the day, these 800 calories are EMPTY calories.

Sodas, coffee, tea...there is no nutritional benefit to any of these beverages, yet they seem to pack on the calories.  Drinking a 100% organic pure juice, like Biotta Juice, however, will provide you with the same calories, but with the added benefit of vitamins, minerals and other health benefits, like blood pressure lowering properties of our Beet Juice, and soothing an upset stomach like our Potato Juice.

Juice drinks and waters are often enhanced with vitamins and herbs.  Although at first glance they seem like a healthy alternative to soda, but how much sugar and artificial flavoring doe they contain?

Biotta Juices are 100% pure - not from concentrate and never diluted.  They are packed full of all natural nutrients, and come in 2 sizes of convenient, recyclable glass bottles.

Get Healthy as a Family

Wednesday, February 17, 2010 by Sara Cox

Have fruits and vegetables become a thing of the past?

One of today’s fastest growing problems is childhood obesity.  Why are so many kids packing on pounds? For the same reasons adults are: too many calories and too little exercise. "Adults are passing on their unhealthy habits to the next generation," says Colleen Thompson, a dietitian and coauthor of Overcoming Childhood Obesity (Bull, 2003). "Childhood obesity is really a family issue. To fix things, the whole family has to change."  A recent study of 3,000 kids ages 4 to 24 months found that many of the negative eating patterns plaguing adults are affecting children as early as infancy. Not only was fruit and vegetable consumption low, but french fries were the most popular choice of toddlers. Moreover, 40 percent of 7-month-olds and 60 percent of 1-year-olds had candy or dessert at least once a day.

Adopt a Healthier Lifestyle

Some basic things you can do to adopt a healthy lifestyle - for both you and your kids:
1.  Exercise.  Let your kids see you exercise.  Exercise with your kids.
2.  Eat dinner as a family.  Not only can you enjoy some quality time, but eating together helps you know what your kids are actually eating.
3.  Control portions - both for you and your kids.  Just becuase you are the parent, doesn't mean you need to eat 2-3 times as much as the kids.  Don't go back for seconds.  Kids see that and think that is what they are supposed to do.
4.  Model healthy behaviors.  You can't expect your kids to do things that you wouldn't do yourself.  Turn off the tv - eat your fruits and vegetables!
5.  Include healthy snacks and drinks - like Biotta 100% pure organic fruit and vegetable juices.  This is a great way to increase energy, enjoy a wholesome snack, and get your daily requirements of fruits and vegetables!

Who Is Biotta?

Tuesday, January 19, 2010 by Mitch B
Biotta has been committed to organic farming since 1951.  It harvests its fruits and vegetables from healthy, living soil and got on the organic bandwagon many years before organic became popular.  Biotta uses first-class raw products and careful processing as the key to all of Biotta fresh juices.  All of the juices are 100% pure, organic, natural juices that are not made from concentrate or diluted with water.

And where did that name come from?  "Bio" means organic in German.  Tagerwilen is the village in Switzerland where our juices are produced.  Put those two together and you get Biotta, an organic Swiss company and brand.

To see all of the fresh juices Biotta produces and where you can find them, check out our website today.  We would love to help you with any questions you have!

What’s in a Label?

Wednesday, November 11, 2009 by George Pappas
Do you ever get confused when you look at labels?  Juice labels, for instance, can sport many terms, including “fresh squeezed,” “from concentrate,” “100% pure,” “fresh frozen” and “not from concentrate.”  What do these labels tell you about the quality of the juice and exactly what you are buying?

The Food and Drug Administration offers these guidelines:

•    "100% Pure" or "100% Juice." This label guarantees that the product is 100 percent fruit juice, complete with all its nutrients. Only 100 percent juice can be labeled "juice."  If a bottle contains mixed juices, it can only be labeled "100 percent juice" if each of the juices added to the mixture is, itself, a 100 percent juice.**

•    "Cocktail," "Punch," "Drink," "Beverage," “Blend,” “Sparkler.”  If you see these labels, you know that the products are diluted, containing less than 100 percent juice. They often have added sweeteners. These products might contain as little as 10 percent or as much as 99 percent juice. The rest is water or added sweeteners. Check the label to find out how much juice such products contain. As with all labels, ingredients must be listed on the label in order of volume.**

•    "Fresh Squeezed Juice." This label means the juice has been squeezed from fresh fruit. It is not pasteurized and is usually located in the produce or dairy section of the grocery store. Be cautious about offering non-pasteurized juice to children, older adults or others with compromised immune systems.

•    "From Concentrate." This label tells you that water has been removed from whole juice to make concentrate; then water is added back to reconstitute to 100 percent juice or to diluted juice such as lemonade. When water is added back to the concentrate, the product is labeled "reconstituted" or "made from concentrate" and has the same nutrition profile as the original juice. "**

•    "Not From Concentrate." This juice has never been concentrated.

•    "Fresh Frozen." Juice with this label has been freshly squeezed, packaged and frozen without pasteurization or further processing. It is usually sold in plastic bottles in the frozen food section of the grocery store and is ready to drink after thawing.*

•    “Fortified.”  “Fruit juice is sometimes enhanced with nutrients intended to provide health benefits because juice is convenient, has good flavor, and is inherently associated with good health. Juices may be fortified with extra vitamins (such as vitamin C), minerals (such as calcium), cholesterol-lowering sterols, and, increasingly, omega-3 fatty acids. Such juices may be a good idea if they're fortified with nutrients you don't obtain enough of in your normal diet.”**

Biotta juices are 100% organic, not made from concentrate.  Since our company began in 1957, we’ve been committed to using only the finest organically grown fruits and vegetables.  Every fruit and vegetable we use is grown in chemical-free, fertilizer-free and toxic-free land—land that has been organically farmed for more than half a century.  All of our fruits and vegetables are vine/field-ripened and are selected using the highest standards in relation to flavor and content.

Biotta takes great care to protect the natural wholesomeness and taste of all our ingredients.  Instead of pressing the fruits and vegetables, which can cause some loss of nutritional value, we use a decanting process of centrifugation to pull the juice out.  Then, we pasteurize the juice at low heat levels to retain the high nutritional value, bottle our juices in recyclable glass bottles for full flavor retention, label and send.  No other company takes more care to deliver a 100% organic product.

Here is how Biotta’s Juices stack up:

100% Juice
Beet Juice
Carrot Juice
Vegetable Juice Cocktail (in this case, the 'cocktail' denotes a blend of vegetable juices)
Bruess® Vegetable Juice
Celery Juice
Sauerkraut Juice
Potato Juice

Fruit juices are typically too tart or strong to consume at 100% juice.  Therefore, we blend our organic fruit juices with other juices as well as tea extracts to make them more palatable.

87% Juice
Energy Drink

74% Juice
Breakfast Juice

70% Juice
Elderberry Juice

Hungry Girl Recommends Biotta Premium Organic Juices

Sunday, September 20, 2009 by George Pappas
Check us out on Hungry Girl's website - www.hungry-girl.com!  It’s a great website, chockfull of nutritional information, recipes and news.  Hungry Girl makes sure her readers understand that she is not a nutritionist, she’s just hungry!

Hungry Girl says she considers herself “…a foodologist…not because I have some kind of fancy degree, but because I am obsessed with food, how wonderful it is, and how much of it will make it impossible for me to fit into my pants. Food is my passion and it has been my lifelong obsession.  Because I obsess over food, I learn about it, read about it, research it, dream about it. Nothing gives me a thrill like discovering a new low cal snack or assembling a no fat pizza! Over the years my food obsession has caused me to accumulate approximately a zillion diet and food tips, and because I am not only hungry, but also very nice, I want to share them with you.”

Hungry Girl and Biotta
On 8/24/09, Hungry Girl included a post about Biotta’s Premium Organic Juices.  In part, this is what she had to say:
Biotta Premium Organic Juices - Hey, veggie-drinkers and fruit-sippers! Looking for an alternative to V8? Check out these adorable (and recyclable) bottles of veggie and fruit juice cocktails from Biotta. They contain more nutrients than most commercial juices. YAY! Our new favorite, the Vegetable Juice Cocktail, has only 60 calories, 0g fat, 13g carbs, 2g fiber, and 2g protein per 8.4-oz. bottle.

Biotta in the News
You may have read about Biotta all-natural juices in the news lately.  Our juices have been receiving a good deal of national attention.  Biotta’s first national exposure came in April, when Whoopi Goldberg took Biotta’s challenge and tried our all-natural juices on The View after stating she “hates all vegetables.”  Recently, our products have also been featured in Shape, Life & Style, and OK! magazines.  Even the Internet is all abuzz – our products have been recommended, not only on www.Hungry-Girl.com,  but on www.TheLuxurySpot.com as well.

Be on the lookout in your favorite magazine or popular website for more information on Biotta natural organic juices. But remember, while Biotta is enjoying its newfound media exposure, we’re not new to 100% pure organic juices—we’ve been producing them for more than 50 years.

Are Biotta Juices Vegan?

Tuesday, September 15, 2009 by George Pappas
If you are committed to a vegetarian or a vegan lifestyle and diet, Biotta can play an important part in helping you obtain the nutrients you need.  All of our 100% organic juices are vegan, with the exception of our Breakfast Juice, which is vegetarian.

For those of you who are not familiar with Vegan or Vegetarian diets - what’s the difference?  Well, in summary, neither vegans nor vegetarians eat meat, fish, or poultry.  Vegans, in addition to this, “do not eat or use other animal by-products such as eggs, dairy, honey, leather, fur, silk, wool, cosmetics and soaps derived from animal products.”*

The Vegan Diet
The key to a sound diet for both vegetarians and vegans is variety, making sure they consume the needed amounts of protein, fat, vitamins and minerals.  A diet rich in fruits and vegetables, as well as whole grain products, nuts, seeds and legumes, is critical to good health and nutrition.

Biotta Fits Right In
Biotta’s all-natural juices not only fit into vegan and vegetarian diets, they are an easy way to supply your body with many of the nutrients it needs.  On our website, www.biottajuices.com, you’ll not only find a listing of all our products, but detailed product and nutritional information that tells you if the product is vegan, dairy-free, lactose-free, wheat-free, gluten-free and much more.

Not only do our products fit the vegetarian and vegan lifestyles, our philosophic foundation does as well.  We’re committed to all-natural farming and to delivering 100% organic juices to our customers.  Every fruit and vegetable we use is grown in land that has been organically farmed for half a century—no chemicals, no fertilizer, no toxins.  Biotta juices are natural original juices; they are not made from concentrate, and no artificial additives are used.  You can’t buy a fresher, more nutritious, purely organic juice than Biotta.
Want more information about Biotta juices?  If you’re a consumer and want to know where to find our juices, click on the beet juice icon on the right.  If you’re a retailer that already carries our juices, click the carrot juice icon to be included in our retailer directory.  If you have any other questions, just email us.

Benefits of All-Organic Foods

Sunday, September 13, 2009 by George Pappas
In its September issue, the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition will publish a paper entitled “Nutritional quality of organic foods: a systematic review.”  The article was written by a team at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and was funded by the UK’s Food Standards Agency (FSA).
While the article showed that, in several instances, organic foods are more nutrient dense than conventional foods, it downplayed other positive findings in favor of organic foods.

The Organic Center authored a response to the FSA study, written by Charles Benbrook, Ph.D., Chief Scientist of the Organic Center; Donald Davis, Ph.D., Retired Research Scientist, University of Texas at Austin; and Preston Andrews, Department of Horticulture and Landscape Architecture and Washington State University.  The complete response can be read at www.organic-center.org/science.nutri.php?action=view&report_id=157.
Basically the article states that, even though the London team reported finding “statistically significant differences between organically and conventionally grown crops in three of thirteen categories of nutrients,” the team concluded that there are “no nutritional differences between organically and conventionally grown crops.”

The Organic Center (TOC) team carried out a similar, but more rigorous review of the literature, and the results differed significantly from the more narrow FSA study.  Unlike the London study, states the article, The Organic Center's review compared apples with apples – focusing on “nutrient differences in matched pairs of crops grown on nearby farms, on the same type of soil, with the same irrigation systems and harvest timing.”

The TOC team’s findings included levels of phenolic acid higher in organic crops in 18 out of 25 cases, and higher levels of antioxidant capacity in seven of eight matched pairs.  “Across all the valid matched pairs and the 11 nutrients included in the TOC study, nutrient levels in organic food averaged 25% higher than in conventional food.”

Familiar with www.theluxuryspot.com?  It’s the premier source for the jet set to get the scoop on what’s hot and what’s not!  In an August 18th article by Bryce, the overall benefits of beet juice are explained.  She mentions beet juice is great for fighting various cancers and heart disease, and boosts the oxygen-carrying ability of our blood which leads to healthy-looking skin.

Bryce cites Biotta’s Beet Juice by name in her article, which also features a picture of our product.  Here is what she says about our all-natural organic beet juice: “I totally recommend Biotta’s kickass bottled beet juice, because it’s easy, tasty, and relatively low in calories.  Plus, keeping a few bottles chilled in your fridge would be a good idea for company, because it tastes damn good with a little vodka over ice.” (her recommendation, not ours!)
