Trade in Your Pills and Save Dollar Bills

Tuesday, November 23, 2010 by Jennifer C

About a year ago I decided that I wanted to make sure I was getting all of the recommended vitamins and nutrients so I began to buy vitamin supplements.  It started off with just a Vitamin C supplement to ward off colds,  then Vitamin D because I'm never in the sun, a multivitamin because, well, because I thought I should, Vitamin A to help protect my eyes, a pro-biotic to help regulate my stomach, and the list went on.  Before I knew it, I was spending upwards of $100 a month to keep my body full of the desired nutrients.

Luckily I discovered Biotta Pure Organic Juice and have not only saved money, but I am still getting those same results that I sought with the vitamins.  By drinking some of Biotta's Breakfast Juice, I was able to obtain the Vitamin C to help keep myself healthy, Biotta Breuss Vegetable Juice fulfilled my vitamin D needs, Biotta Carrot Juice replaced my Vitamin A, and Biotta Potato Juice helped to soothe and regulate my stomach like a pro-biotic would.  Not to mention the countless other vitamins and nutrients that I am getting as well.  So instead of taking a handfull of pills in the morning, I get to enjoy the refreshing taste of Biotta Juices and save money at the same time!!

Cooking with Healthier Ingredients

Saturday, October 23, 2010 by Jennifer C
While all of Biotta's juices are delicious on their own or poured over ice, often times, people wonder if they can sneak it into other things as well.  Maybe you just want to change it up or are afraid you won't drink all of your juice (not usually a problem) or want to get your kids to eat healthier without them even knowing it.  One of the ways that I have found my Biotta juices to be useful in the kitchen is especially when cooking soups.  Canned vegetable stock has loads of sodium and a rather bland flavor.  When cooking vegetable soup or stew, chicken soup, and potato soup, I have found that replacing the stock with a mixture of potato, celery, and carrot juice brings out a more natural flavor and adds vitamins and reduces the sodium throughout.  So whether you are pouring yourself a big glass to drink, or cooking with the nutrient packed juices, feel rest assured that you are getting 100% organic, healthy juice.

No Side Effects Pain Reliever

If you're like most of us, you suffer from pain of some kind or another. Many of us reach for our over the counter or prescription pain medication to help alleviate our symptoms.  But have you ever turned the bottle over and looked at the possible side effects? Nausea, constipation, depression, and sluggishness to name a few.  Wow, I think I'll just deal with the pain - thank you very much.  Luckily, there is an alternative, where you don't have to choose between pain and the side effects and it's as simple as vitamin C.  Studies have shown that vitamin C greatly reduces pain in your joints and helps slow arthritis pain.  At Biotta, we offer a Vegetable Juice Cocktail that is loaded with vitamin C, low in calories and tastes great.  So put down the pill bottle and pick up your juice bottle and pour yourself a toast to your health!

Guess what I spotted today!?

Saturday, September 18, 2010 by Natalie Hadley
Today, I was sitting outside my work eating lunch, like I do pretty much every day the weather is nice enough.  I just so happened to glance over and see a woman sitting a few benches down eating her lunch.  At the exact moment I looked over, I watched her pull at bottle of Biotta juice out of her lunch box!

You can imagine the excitement I had when I noticed this!  I didn't even think twice before I grabbed my lunch and went over to strike up conversation.  She was enjoying a bottle of Biotta's celery juice with her lunch.  She said that she has nearly all of the juices at home, and she rotates which one she packs with her lunch.

After swapping some of our Biotta stories, I let her continue on with her lunch, but I couldn't help but laugh when I pulled a bottle of Biotta's Vegetable Juice Cocktail out of my cooler to show her before I left.

Am I the only one that's happened to?

Enjoy the Juice!

Sauerkraut Juice and Canker Sores

Thursday, September 16, 2010 by Jennifer C
I have long been a sufferer of canker sores.  They can be one of the most miserable health problems to go through, making it tough to enjoy talking, eating, or chewing gum...

One of the stranger, yet most effective remedies I've come across for canker sores involves swishing sauerkraut juice around in the mouth twice a day.  There have been many people and sources claiming its powerful effect.

The People's Pharmacy says, "Take a tablespoon of sauerkraut juice in your mouth and swish it around morning and night, then swallow it. Do this twice a day and the canker sores should go away. We first heard about using sauerkraut juice to treat canker sores from D.W. in Garland, Texas. His mother had been a dental assistant in the 1930s. Since then we have heard from many people that it can provide rapid relief. One physician who benefited personally arranged for analytical testing of sauerkraut juice and discovered a number of active compounds that may be responsible for its healing properties."

Heartburn? Potato Juice is the answer!

Wednesday, September 15, 2010 by Jennifer C
Many people would agree that heartburn is one of the most miserable feelings one can experience.  And the timing doesn't help either... Right after a nice, big, delicious meal when all you want to do is sit back and relax (it never fails...)

Many over-the-counter drugs provide temporary relief, but the next time it hits, it comes back just as strong.  OTC drugs help at easing the pain, but don't help in curing the problem.

People as far back as the early Native Americans have been resorting to a more natural aid in fighting heartburn- Potatoes!

The Native Americans found that by drinking potato juice mixed with water, they could cure most digestive problems, including heartburn.
According to Helium.com, "After the first few treatments, you should notice a sharp decline in the severity and frequency of heartburn disturbances. Within a few months, you may discover that you rarely suffer from heartburn attacks anymore. In no time at all, you will only be disturbed with heartburn on rare occasions."

It is also a safe prevention of heartburn during pregnancy!  The list of benefits of this organic vegetable juice goes on and on!  For more information on Biotta's potato juice or any of our other products, just check out the website!

More Evidence of Beet Juice Lowering Blood Pressure

Monday, September 13, 2010 by Jennifer C
Everywhere I've been turning lately I seem to be finding more and more evidence of the power behind eating a diet rich in fruits and vegetables.  Researchers at Queen Mary University of London recently published results claiming that drinking a couple glasses of beet juice can help to lower a person's blood pressure.

Here is an excerpt from an article published on BabyBoomerAdvisorClub.com that describes how beet juice helps to lower blood pressure:

"Mayo Clinic explains how nitrate works in the beet juice. It is converted by bacteria living on the tongue into the chemical nitrite. Once it enters the stomach, it becomes nitric oxide or in other words, it re-enters the blood stream as nitrite.

The researchers in the new study, have found that blood pressure was at its lowest when the nitrite levels in the blood were at their highest.

The nitrites then work by protecting against endothelial dysfunction, which means that blood vessels have trouble expanding or contracting to handle changes in blood flow. They also have anti-platelet properties."

The article also has advice for those who find the taste of beet juice to be a little strong- mix it with a tall glass of organic carrot juice!

Beet Juice During Pregnancy

Tuesday, August 17, 2010 by Jennifer C
It seems like the list of things pregnant mothers need to watch over and maintain for those long nine months just gets longer and longer.  Two major concerns that doctors tell pregnant women to keep an eye on are high blood pressure and anemia.  Did you know these two problems can be combated by one easy solution: Beet Juice!

High blood pressure during pregnancy (referred to as Pre-eclampsia) usually occurs around 20 weeks.  Drinking 4 oz. of beet juice daily around this time can help to balance the sodium/potassium ratio in your blood.*

Anemia is also a common problem women face during pregnancy.  Doctors recommend turning to foods high in iron to help prevent and combat the onset of anemia.  One of beet juice's most healthy attributes is its high levels of iron.

Obviously, drinking any of Biotta's organic vegetable juice and fruit juice would be beneficial during pregnancy.  You can check out this previous post on the benefits of carrot juice to nursing mothers!

Nitrate Rich Veggies Lower Blood Pressure

Wednesday, August 4, 2010 by Jennifer C
A few years ago, scientists in Sweden conducted a number of experiments and found that nitrate rich vegetables help lead to lower blood pressure!  Below is an except from the study:

Each participant rotated between taking a daily dose of nitrate supplement equivalent to the amount normally found in 150 to 250 gm of a nitrate-rich vegetable including spinach, lettuce, or beetroot for three days, and taking a placebo for a different three days.

The results showed that average diastolic blood pressure was lower after three days of nitrate supplementation than it was after taking the placebo for three days.

Many of the vegetables in Biotta's Juices are packed full of nitrates that will help your body see these same effects!  Biotta has always been dedicated to providing the best quality juice possible that will benefit your body the most, including our beet juice, carrot juice and many others!

Why Do We Love Sugary Drinks???

Monday, August 2, 2010 by Jennifer C
Let's face it, just about everyone loves soda.  For some reason, we can't get enough of the sweet sensation of a cold pop. I can speak so confidently because I, too, am a soda lover.  Recently I have been questioning my decision to drink soda.  What is the draw?

So I decided to make a list of the benefits I get from a pop... What I came up with was a very small list of items that were hardly beneficial to my body.  I may get a quick caffeine boost... until I crash a short time later.  I feel very refreshed... until I realize that I'm actually more dehydrated than before.

I then turned to Biotta's Fresh Juices to see what benefits I could come up with from drinking them.  That list was nearly never-ending.  Every single one of Biotta's juices is packed full of nutrients and vitamins that are essential for the body.  They are very filling, with no added sugar, no added caffeine, and no artificial colors or flavors!

Don't Be Afraid to Mix Up the Beet Juice

Sunday, August 1, 2010 by Jennifer C
I could spend this post like most of our posts simply discussing a long list of the benefits of beets (which you can find here... or here... or here); however, I would like to take a moment to touch on one concern you may have about drinking beet juice.

Studies have shown that some people have a tougher time digesting beets.  In some cases, "it causes sickness, vomiting, giddiness, heartthrob, general weakness."  There is no reason to be concerned about these side effects because there is an easy solution!

We realize that straight beet juice might not be for everyone, but the benefits shouldn't be passed up! That is why we recommend mixing it with other vegetable juices.  When you combine it with some of our organic carrot juice, you can get some delicious beverages.  Here are a few I found:
  • Carrot, beet, ginger, garlic
  • Carrot, beet, cucumber
  • Carrot, beet, parsley, cucumber
  • Carrot, beet, spinach
  • Carrot, beet, celery, parsley
  • Carrot, beet, cucumber, parsley, garlic
What are you waiting for? Grab a bottle of Biotta's organic beet, carrot, or any of our other organic vegetable juice today and get a new start on a healthy lifestyle!

Note:  Biotta juices are not intended to diagnose, cure or prevent any disease.  We are not medical professionals and are not in a position to provide any medical advice.  We recommend you contact your physician for a dietary regimen specific to your needs.

Beet Juice and Heart Health

Friday, July 30, 2010 by Jennifer C
Today, I stumbled upon a very interesting study explaining another one of the ways that beet juice benefits the body.  Doctors have even more evidence in the powerful connection between beet juice and blood pressure.  I have included excerpts from the article below:

"[The scientists] found that drinking 500 millilitres of the juice led to significant reductions in blood pressure within hours.

The effect was traced to nitrate in the vegetable which reacted with bacteria in the mouth. This led to chemical changes which resulted in blood vessels dilating to increase blood flow.

Fourteen healthy volunteers were recruited for the study and asked to drink either 500 millilitres of beetroot juice or the same quantity of water within 30 minutes.   Volunteers who drank the juice started to show reductions in blood pressure after just one hour.

After two and a half hours, their systolic rate - the pressure with each heartbeat - was around 10 millimeters of mercury (mm of Hg) lower than that of participants who had drunk water.

For the diastolic reading - the "resting" pressure between heartbeats - a reduction of 8 mm Hg was seen in the juice drinkers after three hours.
"

Considering a cleanse... The follow-up.

Sunday, July 25, 2010 by Natalie Hadley
So a while back I wrote about considering a juice cleanse.  I only did about 36 hours, but just in that short time I felt the difference it was making.  Now, I'm not going to claim that it was the most life-changing experience of my life, but it really was effective in making me feel... fresh? It's funny, I can't really describe it.  The purpose of the cleanse was to detoxify my body, and I definitely sense the lack of toxins now!

I stuck to the Biotta Breakfast Blend for breakfast, a bottle of organic carrot juice for lunch, and then did a Vegetable Juice Cocktail for dinner (I also had 1/2 a bottle of Beet Juice before my work out).

The juice was the perfect substitute for a meal.  Obviously, you can't live your entire life off of juice, but for a quick cleanse, it was very effective.  It was amazing to see how having organic, fresh juices in my diet could make such a difference in my overall feeling!

Enjoy the Juice!
