Considering a cleanse... The follow-up.

Sunday, July 25, 2010 by Natalie Hadley
So a while back I wrote about considering a juice cleanse.  I only did about 36 hours, but just in that short time I felt the difference it was making.  Now, I'm not going to claim that it was the most life-changing experience of my life, but it really was effective in making me feel... fresh? It's funny, I can't really describe it.  The purpose of the cleanse was to detoxify my body, and I definitely sense the lack of toxins now!

I stuck to the Biotta Breakfast Blend for breakfast, a bottle of organic carrot juice for lunch, and then did a Vegetable Juice Cocktail for dinner (I also had 1/2 a bottle of Beet Juice before my work out).

The juice was the perfect substitute for a meal.  Obviously, you can't live your entire life off of juice, but for a quick cleanse, it was very effective.  It was amazing to see how having organic, fresh juices in my diet could make such a difference in my overall feeling!

Enjoy the Juice!

Understanding Nitrates...

Sunday, July 18, 2010 by Mitch B
We've always put an emphasis on promoting the fact that our juices contain so many nitrate rich vegetables!  But I wanted to make sure that before we continue discussing nitrates and the effect they have on the body, you had an idea of exactly what nitrates are and what they do!

According to health expert Paul Johnson, "Nitrate is a salt of nitric acid, and is an essential plant nutrient found in soil that is taken in by plants and used as their primary nitrogen source. Thus, nitrate is a natural part of all vegetables, fruits and cereals."

He also goes on to discuss the effect of nitrates on hypertension: "How can nitrates help with hypertension? New studies have found that nitrates, nutrients found in leafy green vegetables such as lettuce and spinach, may actually help control blood pressure by maintaining the health of blood vessels."

Conveniently enough, he finishes his article by promoting a few vegetables that are very high in nitrates, including:
  • Lettuce
  • Spinach
  • Cabbage
  • Beets
  • Radishes
  • Carrots
Now you know why all of us here at Biotta take time to promote a nitrate-rich diet!  Nearly all of our organic vegetable juice is packed full of nitrates!  For a complete list of Biotta's vegetable juices, click here!

What the New Food Pyramid Means for Our Meals...

Thursday, July 15, 2010 by Mitch B
Most people aren't aware of exactly what your plates of food should look like now that the Food Pyramid has been adjusted.  I found a very informational reading that stated exactly what it should include:

The plate should be alive with colorful vegetables such as purple eggplant, dark green kale, and bright orange winter squash - all without butter. If there's any meat at all on the plate, it will be no more than three lean ounces of beef, chicken, or much-preferred fish.

That's not all. You'll need five servings of vegetables, four servings of fruit, three cups of low-fat dairy foods, and 6 ounces of whole grains every single day. Cut back on salt. Eat only healthy oils and no bad fats. Stay away from sweets and sugar added beveragesDrink very little or no alcohol. Exercise for at least 30 minutes every day. Or better still, exercise for 60 to 90 minutes daily.

It may be tough for some of us to squeeze that many servings of vegetables and fruit into our diet, but here at Biotta, we like to think that turning to juices may make that process a little easier.  A small glass of Biotta Juices can count for a full serving of fruits or veggies!

By paying attention to these simple guidelines, it can lead to an overall improved state of health!  Check out the full selection of our organic vegetable juice and fruit juice today and start climbing your pyramid!

Increase Your Vegetable Intake

Tuesday, July 13, 2010 by Mitch B
According to Tony Hirving, everyone should put a special emphasis on increasing the amount of vegetables that they include in their diet daily.  He refers to the experts to make the guidelines and say that at least 5 servings of vegetables a day is perfect!

The article goes on to say, " To get the maximum benefits, you need to eat different types of vegetables because they contain different amounts of fiber, vitamins, minerals and other nutrients. So aim to include a variety of vegetables in your 5-a-day to get the most benefit

It has been estimated that eating at least 5 portions of a variety of fruit and vegetables a day could reduce the risk of deaths cancer by up to 20% – fruit and vegetables can also reduce the risk of coronary heart disease and stroke – two very good reasons to eat vegetables, in my opinion!"

It may be tough to see where you can fit that many servings of veggies in every day.  This is exactly why including Biotta in your diet is the perfect solution.  Our organic carrot juice, potato juice, and all of our other juices are packed full of essential vitamins and minerals that promote healthy living.

A glass of juice is the perfect way to sneak in a serving while on the go or in a hurry.  Check out our full listing of vegetable juices on our website!

Don't Be Afraid to Mix It Up!

Sunday, July 11, 2010 by Mitch B
Here at Biotta, we completely understand that some of our juices may be more of an acquired taste than others.  That is why we want to encourage you to try mixing some of the juices and see what you think!

Most people would agree that carrot juice is one of the most delicious juices around, which is why it goes very well when mixed with a glass of organic beet juice, which some people find to be too strong to drink by itself.

Mixing carrot juice with nearly any of our juices may make them much easier on the palate, and over time you can wean yourself to drinking the straight juice.

Do you have any success stories on creating your own juice cocktails using Biotta's organic juice?  Leave us a comment or send us an email today!

Breuss Vegetable Juice- The Cancer Fighting Juice.

Saturday, July 10, 2010 by Mitch B
In the early 1900s, naturopath Rudolph Breuss developed a recipe for Breuss Juice as anbruess alternative method of treating disease, including cancer. Juice is particularly suited for juice-fasting regimens because it is composed of a balanced blend of vegetables to provide the nutrients the body needs during a purification regimen.

Breuss went on to write a book entitled The Breuss Cancer Cure.  In his book, that you can still buy today, he claims that cancer feed and grows on protein.  He deduces that fasting could detoxify and cleanse the body, while starving the cancer.  Many people still use this advice today!

Today, the juice is developed according to the original recipe used many years ago. In fact, Biotta holds the exclusive license for the worldwide production and distribution of the juice!  Biotta’s Breuss juice is made from a large selection of nutrient-rich vegetables, including freshly gathered organic vegetable such as beetroots, carrots, celeriac, potatoes and radishes.

Mixin' it up...

Wednesday, June 23, 2010 by Natalie Hadley
I decided that I was going to start mixing things up a little bit with my juice.  I love most of the Biotta Juices by themselves, but I will admit that the Sauerkraut Juice, as amazingly healthy as it is, is a little tough for me to enjoy by itself.

I just couldn't give up on it though, not after looking at the loooooong list of health benefits that come from the juice.

That is why I decided to start mixing it with Biotta's Vegetable Juice Cocktail and Oh My Gosh!  It is so good!  Something that I was pretty sure would have just ended up bearable, at best, turned out to be one of my favorite drinks!  In fact, I've started enjoying it so much, I'm going right now to order my next case of sauerkraut juice from Biotta!

I encourage all of you to try to mix things up with the juice! Do some experimenting and you might end up making quite a discovery like I did!

And if any of you think you've made quite a delicious concoction, leave me a comment and let me know about it!

Enjoy the Juice!

Going Organic Helps the Farmers...

Saturday, June 19, 2010 by Mitch B
I love to include posts every so often to give even more reasons why we choose to support the organic movement.  It's came to my attention lately that, although we usually focus on the benefits that organic products have on the consumers, the organic farmers also see manyUSDA Organic benefits...

One online page gave a breakdown of some ways that going organic can help farmers...

Organic farming helps keep rural communities healthy
USDA reported that in 1997, half of U.S. farm production came from only 2% of farms. Organic agriculture can be a lifeline for small farms because it offers an alternative market where sellers can command fair prices for crops.

Organic farming protect farm worker health
A National Cancer Institute study found that farmers exposed to herbicides had a six times greater risk than non-farmers of contacting cancer.

Organic farming is good for the family farm
Many organic growers are small, independently owned farmers who have found that organic farming is one of the few remaining ways they can stay competitive with larger-scale farms.

Here at Biotta, we have always (and will always) been completely dedicated to providing 100% organic juice for all of our consumers!  Every aspect of our company, from the cultivation, to the packaging, to the bottling, is done with an eco-friendly mindset!

Start supporting the organic movement today by buying from one of the most successful environmental sustainability companies around!  Check out our products page for a full listing of our organic vegetable juice and fruit juice!

Even More Benefits from Carrot Juice

Thursday, June 17, 2010 by Mitch B
A while back, I wrote a post that included a portion of a great list compiled by Dr. Suzanne Skinner of the health benefits of drinking organic carrot juice.  I have decided that I didn't do the list justice in the last small sampling, so here are even MORE benefits!...
  • Sterility is sometimes overcome by its use.
  • Helps overcome most eye troubles.
  • The best food for the colon is a combination of raw carrot juice and fresh spinach juice.
  • Contains elements which nourish the entire system, helping to normalize its weight as well as normalize the chemical balance.
  • The endocrine glands, especially the adrenals and the gonads require food elements found in raw carrot juice.
  • Helps overcome dry skin, dermititis, and other skin blemishes.
  • Rich in calcium, magnesium and iron while the vital organic elements phosphorus, sulfur, silicon and chlorine balance perfectly with the former in their action and reaction on the human system.
100% Organic Carrot Juice is the closest thing to a miracle juice if there was ever one!  Even after these two posts documenting these benefits, I still feel like I haven't even scratched the surface on the long list of benefits found in carrots.

I Highly recommend checking out the entire list and seeing some of the other benefits.  And while you're at it, why not check out Biotta's website and check into the health benefits of our other organic vegetable juice and fruit juices!

Benefits of Cutting Out Caffeine (Part VIII)

Monday, June 14, 2010 by Mitch B
In recent posts, we've covered many various topics revolving around the health hazards dealing with excessive caffeine intake.  We've looked at issues with sleep, addiction, and skin condition.  Today's problem is more common in women, but is relevant to everybody- Bone Strength.

The negative effect on bone health is one of the more long term side effect of including high amounts of caffeine in your diet.  According to AHealthyMe.com, "Each cup of coffee you drink steals a little bit of calcium from your bones -- about the amount you'd get from a teaspoon of milk."

This stealing of calcium can add up after a long period of time and have severe effects on the body, especially in post-menopausal women.  "One study showed an acceleration in bone loss among older women who drank as little as two or three cups of coffee a day, compared with those who drank less or none at all."

While it appears as though there are nearly no health benefits from caffeine, the exact opposite can be said about Biotta's organic vegetable juice and fruit juice!  Our fresh juices never rob you of healthy vitamins and nutrients! In fact, they replenish them every time you have a glass!

We do not add caffeine to any of our juices.  We see the health risks involved and want to remain dedicated to providing the healthiest addition to your diet possible!

Keys to Healthy Living (Part III)

Tuesday, June 8, 2010 by Mitch B
This is the third part in a series devoted to giving you overall tips on how to enjoy living a healthy lifestyle... So far we have focused on water intake and physical activity, today we are going to look at the opposite of physical activity- Sleep!

Many of us would claim that the American outlook on life is "There just aren't enough hours in the day..."  We're constantly waking up earlier and staying up later just trying to stay caught up.

Many sources still say that adults need at least 7-8 hours of sleep a night in order to stay healthy.

One way to help get more sleep at night is to eliminate caffeine from your diet, or at least within a few hours of going to sleep.  Why not replace the sugary, caffeinated soda with some organic vegetable juice from Biotta?

You will also have a much more refreshing feeling when you wake up in the morning after a good night's sleep.  You will be able to reach for a bottle of carrot juice, beet juice, or maybe Biotta's Breakfast Blend for a healthy way to start your day!

Biotta's juices fit perfectly into anyone's plan for healthy living.  For more information about the juices or where you can buy them, check out the website today!

Keys to Healthy Living (Part I)

Sunday, June 6, 2010 by Mitch B
Kicking off this new series, we're going to stick to a topic that we already know a lot about- What you should be drinking!

Now, although we will stand true behind our juice 100%, we also know that one of the best ways to start leading a healthier life is to make sure that your water intake is at a healthy level!  Water benefits the body in countless ways... Here are a few statistics:

  • Muscle consists of 75% water
  • Brain consists of 90% of water
  • Bone consists of 22% of water
  • Blood consists of 83% water

The functions of water in human body are vital. The water:

  • Transport nutrients and oxygen into cells
  • Moisturizes the air in lungs
  • Helps with metabolism
  • Protect our vital organ
  • Helps our organs to absorb nutrients better
  • Regulates body temperature
  • Detoxifies
  • Protect and moisturizes our joints
Water is the perfect addition to the nutrients your taking in.  Water helps your body absorb everything that fresh juices bring into your body.  Biotta's organic juices are the best way to get the necessary vitamins and minerals in your system daily!

So, in addition to your 3-5 servings of organic vegetable juice and fresh veggies you're getting a day, make sure that you drink a sufficient amount of water every day (The best way to judge if you've had enough water- your urine should be light yellow or clear)

Check out our full listings of juice here!
